Congrats 2023 Champs
Team Slipknot

Full Rules Past Winners

The Founders Cup was named in honor of Captain Fred MacDonald who started the Tournament Trail is back in 2002. This multi-port, season-long competition has long history and a long list of past champions! Perhaps your team could be the next to hoist the trophy! If your tournament schedule includes multiple stops this season make sure you don’t miss your shot to become the next FCup Champ!

How it Works:

It’s pretty simple really. Just fish 333 - that’s it. Ok, I suppose there’s a bit more to the story but not much really. You do have to sign up. Founders Cup entry is $500 in advance or you can pay as you go for $150 per score. (Just to be clear this is in addition to the regular $100 333 port entry fee.) Once you’re entered we’ll track your scores so you can see how you compare to other teams throughout the season. After the final event we’ll add up your 3 scores (we’ll drop the lowest if you fish 4) and then average them out to make your final score. Highest final score wins! There is of course, a much more complete version of the rules HERE.

How it Scores:

Founders Cup scoring will use the traditional 333 points system with a bit of a twist. Winning the 333 in any port will get 100 points toward your cumulative score. Second through last place points will be awarded on a depreciating scale that is determined by the size of field at each individual event. I don’t want to get too “mathy” right here so I’ll just say its my most brilliant scoring system yet! (OK, I suppose that if you do feel like getting “mathy” you can check out full details of the scoring system in the Full 333 / Founder’s Cup Rules.)

How it Pays:

Oh how it pays indeed! Thanks to our Title Sponsor, Jacobs Financial Services we have a GUARANTEED Multi-Port Purse! And this isn’t one of those tiny purses either (what do they call those….? Clutches?) No sir, this is big ol’ monster of a purse that guarantees $20,000 in CASH to the top 10 boats with 10K going to the winner.
